External Flash 20D?
Discussion
Ok so I'm looking to step up my camera & I want to get one that is not only better functionally & has manual focus, I want to be able to have an external flash ie so that I could stand to the left of a subject and have the flash over on the right hand side.
Now is this possible with the 20D, as I have looked on ebay and some sites and all i seem to find are flashed that sit on the top of the camera or just of to the side.
I am willing to go with a different model of camera if nessasary as this will save upgrade problems later on, but definatly looking for external flash capability or even connecting up multiple flashes, ie one for the right hand side & one for the left. Or even in umbrellas. Am I being unrealistic here?
Cheers in advance for your advice, and so you know what i'm looking at camera wise

Anything is possible
Off-camera flash is a big subject. At one level I use a rotating flash bracket with a Speedlight; after that I jump to studio flash with radio triggers. Mobility is the big difference for me. One is great for reportage, the other gives unlimited options for a more considered studio shoot.
So it probably comes down to the situations you envisage yourself working in. Do you have a 20D? I ask because if not, and you plan to use multiple Speedlights as opposed to studio flash, the Nikon CLS system seems to be held in highest regard.

Ah cheers, pretty simple stuff then, just get a decent camera and some triggers & hook then up to wherever I want the flash to be. =)
Back to ebay to have a look to see what I can find, the 20D looks like a decent cheap optional upgrade from my Panasonic FZ8, I dont think buying the 300D or 1000D would benifit me as much as I just dont have the technical ability and would not utilize the funciality of the camera.
Cheers.

20D is from a higher range (albeit an older model) than either the 300D or the 1000D (Canon range from the top down is 1D, xD, xxD, xxxD, xxxxD).Back to ebay to have a look to see what I can find, the 20D looks like a decent cheap optional upgrade from my Panasonic FZ8, I dont think buying the 300D or 1000D would benifit me as much as I just dont have the technical ability and would not utilize the funciality of the camera.

Hope this helps.
