Anybody Successfully Sued Their Wedding Photographer?

In the news today is a story of a newlywed couple successfully suing their wedding photographer for abominations such as these:

No, but I was going to.
Our wedding photographer wasn't at all bad at his job. We got as far as the proof stage, chose the photos we wanted - and then he refused to accept any calls. The reason being that his girlfriend had dumped him and he was in self-destruct mode.
"Negotiations" (i.e. me liaising with his mum about the situation!) continued for a couple of months before I gave him an ultimatum - either cough up the photos that were paid for, or see you in court. He was apparently "not emotionally up to getting the prints done", or putting them in an album - all of which was paid for before the wedding. So I told him that as a compromise, I'd accept the proof prints, the negatives and the photo copyright in full and final settlement.
Done deal.

Not helping at all here but our photographer was such a nice chap, we invited him to stay for the reception. We were hard-up at the time, so price was important to us, and yet the results of his work were fabulous. He took his stills (he did our video too, which was also excellent) with one of those Hasselblads (is that right?) that produced 10x10 pictures.
Then, when we had our second wedding (another story), the video guy had one of the first SLR-digital cameras (in 2001), certainly the first I'd seen, and took 140 pics of our reception, then gave us the CDs with them on with the video.
When selecting both, we saw previous examples of their work. I can't help but wonder whether the couples in these articles did the same.

Friend of the family did ours, quick statutory family line ups were fine. But the main thing was that he captured a truly beautiful unposed image which is the only real photographic memory I've wanted to refer to since.
Another friend of the family did the video which seemed to capture more tracking shots of one short-skirted guest's arse the more he drank.

ky artful 'interesting' posing that most pros seem to insist on after the ceremony. I do about 20 weddings a year (car) and my last one the photographer was happy snapping away when the bride got out of my car for her big day.
He followed her upto the church and did the usual setup shots etc and then came and had a chat with me when he had finished about when the bride comes out, where to stand etc etc.
(Also there was also another photographer there that I assumed was a family member or his lacky, he was just politely following this main potographer and did what he said, I'd say he was about 40 and the main guy was in his 60's.)
So this old boy comes over and is chatting about the wedding, usual stuff, and he kept calling the bride Sally. After 10 mins I asked who Sally was and he said "The bride of course" looking at me like I was an idiot.
"Er, no her name is Charlotte. Charlotte South"
He looks around, "Is this St Marys Church Flamsted?"
"No, its St John Redbourn"
Silly sod had the wrong wedding! I've never seen anyone run so fast to their car!
Other photographer just tutted and walked off.

The question posed isn't aimed at the photographer, it is aimed towards the client - the majority of whom I would suspect have little motivation to view the photography forum - so why it has been moved to here is beyond me...?

Well, Captain Rolleyes, the same thread appeared here a litle earlier, and nobody said 'Ooh no, this must go somewhere else' and started bickering. We just got on with it. But the moment the Lounge type come in, it just turns into an argument. You're upset because it was your thread and you don't agree with the mods - who, if they were moving it here, should have closed it anyway because there's another thread running.The question posed isn't aimed at the photographer, it is aimed towards the client - the majority of whom I would suspect have little motivation to view the photography forum - so why it has been moved to here is beyond me...?

In reply to the above, just because the subject of the topic included the same reference, why do you conclude that the two threads cannot be exclusive of one another? The questions posed are two entirely different topics and as such don't necessarily accompany each other. The topic I have posted has relatively little to do with photography, and more to do with an agreement between two parties, hence why it's not appropriate for the thread to have been moved here.
