I said I shoot a friends shop for his website as a favour. The inside of the store is fine as I can get my lights out and do my thing, but there's no way I can overpower the outside of a shop in daylight with speedlites so to make things interesting, I need to get creative.

Unfortunately I'm falling fairly short of inspiration, other than an UWA angle from a ladder around fascia height down the street. It's in an old market town and is part of a long terraced highstreet.

Does anyone have any inspiration for me?

Get a clown in, or something that'll create interest/activity with people crowded roound, shoot elevated from over the road and use the building as a backdrop? S'either that or pavement level looking up I reckon. Bit of rear curtain jiggery pokery called for

I love the idea of a random clown as they make anything better, but I'm shooting at 7am tomorrow morning! They're just some simple stock images for the website, nothing too fancy. The inside of the store is fantastic so it will pretty much shoot itself, I guess I have to accept I'm not going to like whatever I shoot of the outside.

I was just about to say: Can you not go at night (when all other shops are shut) and get the owner to put all the lights on and light it yourself from outside also? Would make it stand out from the rest (if they;re of any competition?)

Unfortunately there's a blockbusters lit up 24/7 on one side and his signage isn't lit. Nice idea though.

Bugger, worth a punt, eh.

How about some dodgy, fake, PC lens type stuff from 'afar' to drawer the eye in?

Might be easier to set the place on fire.

I think it will be a boring bland shot with a bit of post to direct the eye and I'll just have to forget about it.

The inside I'm looking forward too, lots of prime colours (bold reds) and chrome.

You're right, it does, but given it's a (free) favour for a mate and my time is extremely limited at the moment due to 2 businesses it's not going to be fantastic. The owner of the shop seems happy with a few default photos, I just want it to be fancy for my benefit! No point in shooting unless you're shooting to the best of your ability eh smile

Would it be to naff to portray it as if its been their for years with a bit of sepia?
