The answer is not yes, the answer should be model is xyz as there are many models of camera each with their own error codes.

Then the question should have been "what make / model of camera?"

Does it need to be ? I don't think Nikon do a 450D or Canon a D90 do they? from the model no. you can work out the make easily....

Sorry to laugh, but if you give the camera make and model I'm sure somebody will be able to offer advice.

ok then, just for you

Then the question should have been "what model of camera?"

the word 'camera' on it's own is pretty useless, as clearly shown by the OP's response to it

Canon and Nikon both have a D30. I know it's not likely to be this but we don't even know it it is a video or still camera let alone a DLSR.

Just putting my Sherlock Holmes hat on for a moment.

By cross checking posts by the same OP it would seem that the camera in question would happen to be a Canon 300D, this is of course based on the assumption that the OP only got one camera from Santa.

True, but since he only got it yesterday I didn't think it would be a old Canon one. I do admit though I never thought about the possibility of it being a video camera just assumed it would be a DSLR.

It's a Canon error, and is the result of a st card. Try another one, or format the one you have

Just when you think you've seen all the best threads, someone pops up with a late contender for "Thread Of The Year 2009" with just hours to spare.

It gets my vote!

sorry guys... the mrs brought me a canon eos 300d for xmas, and she does not know about the problems with it.
Basicly, when I switch on the camera with the memory card in situ, I get "error 002".. the camera is an EOS300d, when I pull the micro sd card out and look inside, it appears that one of the pins has been pushed "over" no idea who I did it and I am frankly gutted.
Sorry about the short and unhelpfull post, but the mrs was around and for reasons above, do not want her to know that I may have potentially ruined my xmas present less than a day after getting it....furious
