No-one else seems to have mentioned it so thought I would... Only last week I was rueing the fact that this lens doesn't exist - and now it does

It's the same size as the old one so might just find its way onto Bloke's shopping list this year. At last, a real reason to buy stuff

Given Sigma's appalling quality standards I'd not touch that lens with a bargepole. Buy 'cheap', buy twice...
S'funny, I use a Sigma 70-200 f2.8 Mk 1 for weddings and have done so successfully for years. Very happy with it - and it was s/h from eBay!
Buy from a reputable place like Warehouse Express and they'll take back anything that's not right.
Mind you the 'cream' in 4heros photos looks more like 'pub ceiling' to me!
Ah yes, those terrible Sigma lenses. Awful focus speed, terrible image quality etc etc ...

Every one of those is from a 70-200 EX DG. All are from the old 20D so i haven't even "cheated" by posting shots from the 7D or 1DMKIIN.
I won't bother throwing the 120-300 or the 500 prime into the mix either

Just digging this one back up as I've just checked on prices, and yikes! it's a bit of an increase!

Sigma does have a bad rep but from what I can gather their 'EX' range is quite a bit better in terms of QC. And some of their lenses are simply superb - can't find anything to better the 100mm or 150mm macros, for instance.Buy 'cheap', buy twice...
Still, at over a grand I'll be sticking with my 80-200mm.
