The March Challenge - entry thread
Discussion
Hi folks,
After the recent thread about a new monthly challenge, I feel it would be ok for me to start the ball rolling?
This months challenge is Street Panning. This could be someone jogging, a bus going past, whatever you think, it's up to you.
Neil.
edited to add, I'm going to take part in this too, but cannot win (obviously). Should there be a discussion topic also, or just have any discussion in here?

- The shot MUST be taken this month, with the closing date being the 31st of March
- The exif must be posted with your shot
- Keep the images posted to a decent size please, 1024px wide max
- I'll choose the winner this month (with the winner choosing the theme for next month, then deciding who should win that months). A poll would have been good, with the users voting, but the poll only allows 10 people to compete

- The Challenge for next month should be generic, as not everyone has access to zoom, macro, specialist lenses. It should be shots that everyone is capable of achieving with the bare essentials
Neil.

Up on the A4069. I gave the missus the keys and said 'drive up and down a few times' I need to practice panning...

Camera: Nikon D300S
Exposure: 0.002 sec (1/500)
Aperture: f/4.8
Focal Length: 52 mm
Focal Length: 51.9 mm
ISO Speed: 200
Free hint: try a slower shutter speed - I'm usually in the general ballpark of 1/160 for motorsport panning, sometimes slower or faster depending on things like light and car speed. Nice Sub though [pic] http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2736/4413781142_2d7...

Everyday is a school day! I always seem to be learning something new and forgetting something else at the moment

Advice taken on board though.
Cheers.
Thanks a lot for taking part everyone! It pushed me to get out and take some shots also and that's what this challenge is all about
My shots, not the best but it's better than the camera sitting there gathering dust while my "knowledge" fades into the distance.

Anyway, on with the results.
In 3rd place - Craig S
I commend you for your bravery in shooting at 1/6th sec! Love experimenting myself with slower shutter speeds, you pulled it off nicely! Was this shot hand-held?
In 2nd place - forty-two
A bit more motion (slower shutter speed) would have been excellent, but a good shot none the less! Looks such an inviting road for that scooby! Damn, I miss my impreza
And in 1st place - mojitomax
Such an spooky shot, looks like you are some sort of mad stalker! Again, excellent use of slow shutter (why do I always want to type s
tter) speed.
Really chuffed this has worked out ok, and would be delighted if mojitomax could post up the next challenge! Would you also copy and paste my first post on this thread so everyone knows the rules of the Challenge please?
Is there anything else we should add to this challenge, like you are allowed more than one entry in the month?

Hi guys. First place! Well chuffed. It's the first comp I entered. Thanks.
I think the theme for April should be "up". Inspired by disney's recent film.
The only thing is that I will be away from 26 April for four weeks. I'm driving to Istanbul and back in an old London taxi! So I won't be able to judge the results
not sure how thats going to work.
Can somebody make a new thread for this? I'm typing from my iPhone at work so it's a bit awkward.
Thanks all, and have fun this month!
