FUJIFILM FinePix S5000 Digital Camera

IS this camera any good i have been recomended by someone at work,

I want a camera to take pictures at track days and at car events.

Any advice welcome please

Only that you might be about 7 years late - looks like they came out in 2003

sadly that is out of my budget im looking to spend between 100 - 130.

i have since been doin some readin and have read that the Fujifilm FinePix S1500 is a good camera to start with at the best price of £112

I used my S5000 from 2003-2009 and was always quite pleased with its results. I have since upgraded to a dSLR, but people often commented how the pictures on the Fuji seemed like they were from an expensive camera. It was certainly better than a lot of compacts at the time.

I know a couple of people with the much newer S1500 and this seems like a really good camera for the money. I seem to recall when i lived in the US you could have one new for about $150! It is a much more modern camera than the S5000 with all the features that the market demands these days.
