All not found this in search but for those installing or buying a new laptop/PC with Windows 7 x64 you might have problems with the old registry hack to install Canon Software without the CD.

Now as I am a believer of only ever installing the latest software rather than the years old stuff on the CD this might help.

Copy and paste the text between the ---- and save on the desktop as canon.reg. Use notepad and then change the file extention from txt to reg when saving.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Canon\EOS Utility]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Canon\DPP]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Canon\ZoomBrowser EX]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Canon\PhotoStitch]

That will enable you to now install into Windows7 x64

for 32 bit (XP, vista etc)

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Canon\EOS Utility]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Canon\DPP]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Canon\ZoomBrowser EX]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Canon\PhotoStitch]

Hope this is of some use to someone. Having just replaced my Laptop due to breaking the last I found it usefull to be able to use my Canon software!!

ETA it doesnt appear to work for ZoomBrowser EX on x64 but at least DPP, Eos util and Picture editor work

Also just found out Canon do not support x64 OS for its RAW codecs. bds. If you want to view your codecs this is the codec pack (Covers ALL major RAW file types)

I'm sure I'm using the latest canon one (1.6?) on my x64 W7
