I'm interested in taking motion shots of my car and so would preferably need a rig for this...my only problem is the price 
Has anyone made their own car rig that could give me a few pointers on how they did it and how much it cost to build etc? I would want one that reaches out far enough to capture the whole car in the photo.
Any help is much appreciated.

Had a very quick play with the rig on my drive last night after work. I had to rush as she was on our way home from work and space is limited on the drive.
For a first attemp I'm quite pleased, concidering I was on my own too, Lucky I live on a hill.
I'll have a proper play at the weekend on my other car.

If you don't mind driving up to Stoke on Trent then you can borrow mine for an afternoon so all it will cost you is a tank of petrol. I'll even come along and help you get the shots.
My rig consists of a 5 metre pole which comes in 1 metre sections which bolt together, 2 manfrotto suction cups and a magic arm and I've had some great results with it although the total cost was somewhere near £300.

Your budget is going to have to cover 2 decent suction cups, which are expensive, as well as some way of fixing the camera to the boom, and the boom to the suction cups.
I think you're looking at the wrong side of £150 even to do it on a budget.
Manfrotto cups: £70 each
Magic Arm: £100ish
Boom arm: depends
Cheaper suction cups can be had but you have to remember you're working on car paintwork with an expensive camera and someone else's pride and joy
Presumably there are cheaper options than a magic arm for connecting the camera, but they are a very flexible solution.
My rig involves 3 suction cups and was well on the other side of £300 but to be honest a large amount of that was wasted money on bits I didn't need. I'll switch to a single boom arm one day when I can be bothered!

Mike, I'll take some shots of the rig in bits and how i made it and cost. Like has just been mentioned it's not cheap but I have made it so it's the length I need it and saved a few quid doing it myself. I have found quite a good one in the states. Pretty pricey tho.
The only extendable pole suitable for the job that I could find online was limited to 188cm. I wanted at least 2meters.
