We were amazed at how green and unpopulated the place looked, or at least the parts we flew over (Shikoku, W.Honshu) - these beautiful mountains and valleys, but then dotted with urbanity as soon as the land got flat-enough!
Kansai was an interesting experience too...am I right in thinking that's sinking???
