Well would you believe it ! I've been given a Nikon D1H body. It's certaintly had a hammering but the batts charge and the menu works.

Nothing works when I press the shutter release but I guess thats because it has no lens ?

It's pretty dusty and has been stored without a cover so the mirror is also dusty.

Is it worth buying a cheap lens to see if it works ?

It weighs an absolute tonne !

I'd certainly want to test it out with a lens, if only so you can describe it accurately for eBay...

If it's bust, you can either (a) use it as a doorstop, (b) sell it to Beano or (c) see how far it goes with a trebuchet.

biggrin No it's certaintly not mint its had a right old hammering !! Is it worth buying a cheap lens though.

If it does work is it worth keeping as a spare ?

It should work without a lens attached, so it sounds like something may be wrong...

oh ! stupid me, shouldn't post when I'm sleepy ! biggrin . yeah ! it should work even without the lens, even though they came out in 2001.

IIRC, the shutter will only operate when it's set to Manual when there's no lens atached, not in any other mode.
