Hi,

I was hoping to pick your brains a little bit... My father has a little photography site based on WordPress and he's uploaded 30 images to it - it's more of a blog than an album site. He is now wanting to expand the website a little so rather than a "portfolio" esque affair, it's contains albums of picture's he has taken at events which can then be offered for sale for minimal charge (e.g. £2 per download). It's a very similar to track-day photography I guess.

Given that I'd suspect the amount of sales to be minimal and that hosting the images ourselves isn't an option, I'm looking round for an external service to use (it'd also give us the bonus of offering prints rather than just download etc)

Problem is, the only site I know who offer anything like this is Photobox, and I don't think you can integrate the image feeds into an existing site (like you can on FlickR). Does anyone know of a better solution?

Thanks

tegwin

Yes...

I use Gallery2 hosted on my own "rented" server space online....

Allows integration with paypal API and shopping cart etc..

I use mine to sell summer ball photos to students... allows different size choices... they can either order prints, or it allows them to download the full file after paying...

I believe deviant art also offer a similar service... I guess it depends on the sort of thing you are after..

If you need any technical help with gallery2 and hosting etc, PM me... I have dont quite a bit of work to get mine working properly.

Ah, I hadn't seen Gallery2 before, but it's not really usable for us unfortunately - the hosting we're with has fairly limited space / bandwidth (we went with a cheap deal which comes with 1GB storage, 4GB bandwidth), which whilst ideal for current uses can't really be used for hosting lots of images, especially at higher resolutions...

Ideally, I'm looking for something like flickR where they host the pictures, and show them on our site, albeit integrated so that they then deal with the e-commerce side of things on their site (e.g. we display the picture with a "buy-now" option which takes them to the external site).

The reason I'm after minimal work is that this is more of a "test-the-water" type affair. If it works, we'll upgrade the hosting and use something like Gallery2 - at the moment it simply isn't worth the outlay when I'm not even sure he'll make enough money to pay for the hosting costs per year from his sales...
