Before I moved up here full time I tried really hard to buy an old ruin of a house, in the best location I've ever found in Britain - unfortunately the owners didn't want to sell, and (to my utter despair) it has been falling down for the past 10 years. I went there this morning for the first time this year and am glad to see that over the winter they have started doing it up. The nearest house to it is about a mile away and unless you knew the track you'd never find it (You'd really have to own a Landy to live there). Stunning place... below a snap of the house, and then a photo taken from the 'garden' (a secluded bay with mooring for a boat). The loch is the Atlantic Ocean.

It looks rubbish 750 wide, so click below for a 1200

Charlie failing to convince that he owns it:

What would, or could, you do with the house if it were yours? It looks very practical rather than beautiful at the moment.

Lovely place Mr Carter. I've spotted a place not too far from you I've got my eye on which I may pounce once I release some cash. Dont worry its not too close to you if we get it to be doorstep neighbours!

Steve, I've read your blog on the build of your current place (fabulous by the way) - imagine the 'fun' you would have had getting all the bits delivered out to that place eekhehe

Leave Shieldaig and drive towards Torridon. About half way you reach 'West Lodge'

Third walk down on this page: http://www.stevecarter.com/ansh/walks.htm is the walk - and at the furthest part, you'll find the house. (Walk is only 1 hour, so not a trek).
