I have yet to unpack my latest photokit acquisition. An Epson R2880. I don't believe you can better the quality, having bought both on recommendations and witnessing its output - especially for mono.

I will be adding a continuous ink system (Permajet) from almost the moment I get it hooked up.

For A4, a cousin bought the PX700 last year and it produces amazing results.

You can't expect to buy a bit of kit that produces great prints and hope it can send faxes, copy bibles, make tea and groom aardvarks as well - all in my most humble of opinions.

Anyone who tells me there was a better printer for A3 for my money than an Epson R2880 can expect a visit from me one dark night.......

I have an Epson R2400, which was the predecesor to the R2880. Have no hesitation in recommending Epson for quality. Ink is pricey though.

how long (number of a3 prints )should I be looking at from the 2880 ?..also is changing from one black to the other a pain and waste of ink as some people indicate ? How do people rate the 2880 against say the canon pixma pro 9000 mk2 ?

I've got some of that paper (A3) but can't get the colours right at all. I am using the appropriate epson colour profile and the matt black cartridge but there is too much red in the results. I use Illford Gallerie for shiny prints and those match the computer screen, the camera LCD and the Epson P4000 screen very closely, as do such other papers as I've tried including Epson's own glossy.

Think I need to experiment with it some more.
