Hopefully someone can help...

Below is one of the pictures I took at at the Marathon on Sunday.

As you can see to the bottom left of the bike its lights reappear in the picture.

Does anyone know what the cause of this is? Is it a lens or camera issue?

My camera is a 450d and the picture was taken with my 18-55 efs kit lens.

Thanks,

Jon

If they are strobes on the bike I suppose they could be so bright that you're just seeing internal reflections from the lens - if you don't get the effect on any other shots I wouldn't be particularly worried. I'm assuming the poor focus is just for that single shot - if you were getting bad focus all over I'd be more worried.

Are you using a filter? UV or daylight or whatever?

Yes did have a uv filter on the lens.

Re the focus I have heavily cropped and zoomed in on the original pic hence the loss of quality.

Thanks,

Could be a real reflection off the damp floor.

Greig is right, its a reflection in the lens or the uv filter. I've had the same issue before with headlights etc.

Filter flare is the most likely cause though it could be straight lens reflection flare since the rather bright lights and the dullish looking ambient will tend to make this more obvious. Usually the effects can be observed as a reflection about the centre point of the lens, more or less.

They are, in part, why the Spot Tool was developed.

Thanks for the feedback. Glad to hear that is it not an issue with the mirrors in the camera.

Cheers,

The mirror should be shifted up out of the ligth path to the sensor before the shutter opens so realy shouldnt cause an issue.
