It was never meant to be completely idiot proof but most of the time it does a bloody good job compared to the previous heal tool giving you a good head start to finish the job.
Obviously it depends on how big an area you were trying remove and what the background is like.
I was happy with it on this shot.


At the end of the day it is only a tool to be used how you see fit.

You will find you have to fiddle a bit when you are trying to remove stuff along the border of another object. You will probably still need to use good old clone along the edge. You just need to be a bit clever in choosing smaller areas to heal/fill. Depending on whether you use Content Aware Fill or Heal you will get different results.
In some of my other shots it was so easy removing people in the background standing on the banking with the heal tool.

Doesn't look like a one-click solution from what i've seen (even in the example preview videos), but it still looks like an amazing feature that'll save hours of work.
