ND Grads - post your shots and tips

As much as I like the occasional HDR, I don't like being forced into using it to avoid blown skies.

So I have just ordered Cokin P filter system with 3 ND grad filters .

So - show me some shots taken with ND grad filters, and share your tips for using them

taken with a cheap ND filter from eBay (cost around £4) its not that great, i keep meaning to upgrade to a LEE filter system but its a fair bit of money.

As for ND grads... well most of mine. But as most of you will know, it's not the camera, it's being in the right place at the right time... with a hard ND grad

You can just see the effect of the grad creeping in on the tips of the hills / trees on some of these …

It's a fairly simple system to use - but as always, practice will giv you the best results!

I got almost the exact same thing the other day for my birthday I have been getting much better skies with it so it'll be no problem to an expert like you

It's very easy to use but do you have an adapter ring ? I didn't see that in the kit ...

Yep ordered an adapter ring for my UWA lens - lucky thing I remembered, because I'm not very patient

I've had two trips out with them but it was a bit drizzly one night and last night I got some *reasonable* stuff (ie much better than it would have been without the filters) but not good enough for on here. The standard is so damned high it's a bit off-putting!

I'll be having another go this weekend as I am really enjoying it despite the lack of anything magical to show so far

John - do you stick the grad filters on top of a polarising filter ?

I used to when I had the smaller Cokin set up however the threads on my polariser are a bit knackered and wont connect with my LEE holder. If I could, I probably would.
