Off to Skye again tomorrow
Discussion
It's that time of year again when we do our first trip to Skye, setting off tomorrow from Aachen and making our way to Glasgow and then onwards to Skye on Monday morning for the week. This years trip is that little bit different as we've both families with us too, should make things interesting to say the least as my side only speak English, and hers only speak German
I know there were quite a few others on here talking about heading there during May, so if you see a Rav4 on German plates give us a toot
Just hoping the weather clears up a bit, the good old hit and miss of the highlands and islands...either way I'm sure there'll be some pics to share from the trip.

Yep - they came up the Bealach Na Ba from Applecross as I was coming down! I was trying to get up sharpish to see you and Steve however it took longer than we thought to get up.
I was in Plockton on the Sunday afternoon and was told to keep a look out for a yellow NSX, but no joy!!
Hope you had a great time

No matter - sure we'll catch up somewhere or another.
I pulled over ~2.30pm on the coastal-route up from Applecross to let the rally-rep group (8 or 9, most liveried) through - we were enjoying the scenery (and the Astute-class submarine cruising offshore) and treating blind crests with caution, they were on a charge!
But had a lovely time overall - not been up that way before, may have to head back (probably on my own). Trying to combine 3 different things (driving holiday, photography holiday, couples holiday) didn't work very well...still enjoyed the roads massively, and having Becs in the passenger seat was probably a good 'reality anchor', as I was still doing big speeds a lot of the time. The main downside was that I didn't get some of the photos I'd have wanted (esp. seeing yours) as our timing was more aimed towards general sightseeing and having nice meals out (fresh seafood

Have fun Baz, envy you the location but not sure about the company
You're driving? Should make for some epic scenery
Cheers Andy - it doesn't matter how many times I head up there it always amazes me how awesome the scenery is!

That’s one hell of a drive Baz, Google tells me its 961miles, so you must really like Skye
. Have fun and don’t forget to post the pics.
Cheers Paul, yup it's definitely quite a long drive

Worst part is when I come home a week on Sunday (late evening) I fly to the USA first thing on Monday morning with work...it's good for the airmiles though! We both thoroughly love it up there, if there was some way for me to do my job without having to live here in Aachen we'd already be living on Skye...john185k said:
Jealous, and i was only there last weekend!
You're lucky to be able to just jump in the car on a Saturday morning and head up there, that's where I'm jealous

Where abouts are you headed?
As it's the first time for my mum and also Mrs Baz's parents there were doing most of the touristy stuff:-Quiraing
Old Man of Storr
Talisker Bay
Fairy Glen
Flora MacDonalds Grave (as I mentioned last summer she's a distant relative on my mum's side)
Torrin
Cuillins
etc etc, and staying in Portree...
Back on the mainland Inverary, Oban, Ben Nevis, Fort William, Glencoe and Etive Mhor are on the cards...kicking off with a day in Glasgow tomorrow once we arrive late-morning and then Eddieburger Castle on Sunday.
