...for my 5dmk2 in preperation for a shoot. Expecting it to be a simple fit only just got around to attempting to fit it. The instructions show the removal of the existing battery door to just be a simple slide and pull out but whatever I do I cannot get the fking battery door off the body at this time.

Anyone else fitted one of the grips to the canon range lately? How easy was door removal please help!!

I use battery grip on my 450D very often, the battery door goes off really easily if you have it at 45 degrees angle. And then pops back in without any problems.

tried all angles, pressure, swear combinations the lot. Finally got it out with a little leverage from a small screwdriver

Canon fk you and your stupid instructions or rather fk me for my hamfistedness. Damn the shoot better be worth it now!

There's a tiny pin running through the hinge and it's like a watch pin in as much as you compress one end from memory to release the door.

Other than that, snap it off biggrin

Good luck wink

Not at all, it's a bugger to snap off!

Pah, try the battery door on a Nikon SB-800 which you have to wrench off to fit the 5th battery!

Speeds up recycle time. But as batteries and chargers usually work in sets of four, it does bugger up the logistics a bit... so in practice I prefer two sets of four than a five and a three nuts
