Looking through photos from the weekend, and look at the bottom of the car, the contact bit between tires and tarmac. a big grey patch blocking things out...

any info would be useful smile Was shot with a Canon 350D

The closest I can get is a mirage effect from hot tarmac, but that still doesn't explain it I think. No idea.

An out of focus bit of wire from a fence?

It looks like some sort of jpeg artifact, or possible corruption of the image from the memory card. Have you done anything with it in photoshop for example to replace all one colour with another for example.

The grey blob at the front of the car seems to be in the shape of the shadow of the car.

It's certainly not heat haze from the tarmac. It wasn't that warm at Knockhill on Sunday biggrin

I only got one or two shots of that car - most of the time I couldn't see it for the big clouds of smoke!

It's definitely not corruption, the data in a jpeg isn't stored in such a way that a uniform corruption like that could occur.

It's the fence, out of focus. look at the fence the other people are standing at, it's just a coincidence it happens to line up with the car.

I am an idiot, didn't look at the other photos properly and just realised it was the fence, whoops!

I assumed it wasnt as most of that run I was leaning on the fence itself, but these were taken further back. Sorry guys hehe

just uploading another shot of that car (a good shot!) And will have a play about with crappy windows editing software later hehe

not sure that its the fence - you can see what appears to be the shadow of the car bodywork on it
