Think I will answer my own question here but I cant seem to find a way of changing the file name in camera on the 40d.

At the moment it saves my images as IMG_oo1 but i want to change it too something else EG MAT_001 is this possible? As I will be shooting with two other togs but saving our images into the same folder.

Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty certain that the IMG_ prefix is fixed on the 40D. If one of the other 'togs has a 1D, this can be changed to a user setting. You could reset the numbering to 0001 (there's a setting to make the camera do this automatically when a new card is inserted). This would help if one of the other cameras was on a similar sequence.

Don't forget too, to ensure that all the cameras are synchronised to the same date/time. You can then sort the folder on "date/time taken" to keep them in the right chronological order.

you can change the naming of files; attach to your PC and go to PREFERENCES on Canon Software/File Name/ and either drop down options or customize

ETA
one of the drop down options on customize is owners name so MAT_001 etc is possible
