VHS onto DVD - the best way?

I bought one of these:

It's ok, not to fiddly to set up (I'm using W7 64-bit and it works fine) and you can do a certain amount of editing.
You may be disappointed with the quality though. Many years of watching dvds and now blu-rays have spoiled me and you may find that the picture looks total s
te. Also, I'd watch the vids through first if you can as I started to record one video and halfway through the recording the tape quality seriously degraded putting paid to that transfer session!20 quid seems steep, me and my family have used www.vhsontodvd.com before. I think we paid less than £20 quid and didnt get any problms.
