Been using Elements 7 for while now, question is – Is it worth upgrading to Version 8 – or should I hang on a bit until Version 9 comes out. From what I’ve read 8 wasn’t really much of a quantum leap from 7.

Any features on it that would make the outlay justifiable ?

To make the decision easier, according to Adobe, PSE8 adds the below features:

  • Recompose your photos to any size without distorting key subjects
  • Create perfectly lit shots with Photomerge® technology
  • Preview a range of adjustments before choosing the best one

I hate it when it does that. You recompose and all your key subjects distort. It's a bugger.

IMHO Elements does the day to day Photo stuff easier and can catalogue your piccies too. It has 3 modes, including tutorials and guides for the easier stuff, such as making the sky blue-r or changing the picture to B&W. It can also easily put together collages and printy stuff like invites and Thank you notes.

If you're used to CS then the full edit mode is very similar, although it's missing some huge chunks. I've noticed such missing items as colour selections, macro templates, missing level adjustment tools and the puzzle templates.

There's a 30 day free trial at adobe.com to have a play and decide smile
