Insured, yes.
Camera + lense + Pocket Wizard (almost new) D200 situated on ground, away from car on my mat, on which I lie on for low shots.
Total fluke of an accident, driver - totally mortified.
Camera body at the moment appears ok, the lense took the brunt.
Still, pooh!

But he didn't run over YOU! Given you are insured the equipment can be replaced! At least you aren't injured!
It's still crap I know and the lens was new but at least you aren't nursing an injury to go along with it! You could have been on the mat!
I advise drinking.

Have you got any great pictures of the car getting closer and closer? You never know you may have got an awesome unusual shot
As the war photographer said, from his hospital bed, 'I got a great shot of the others ducking'That's fixable but probably not economical to do so, would guess around the £600 mark from Nikon, maybe less from someone like Fixation.

Speaking of which - do you guys recommend and particular policices/companies?
M&S cover our home insurance and paid out when I dropped an expensive lens a few years ago with no quibbles at all.rottie102 said:

Worth seeing what your home insurance a) already covers and b) how much it would be to insure more expensive kit.I've got a feq quids worth of camera and lenses which I've specifically identified on my policy and I think it costs me an extra £35 a year (with Halifax) for any of my camera gear, both in the UK and overseas, whether it's lost, damaged, stolen, eaten by a crocodile, etc. Seemed a reasonable price for peace of mind.
