some sort of auto trigger for fast moving flash photography?

Trying to do some... not sure what you'd call them... moving still life (?!) shots - involving liquid and objects coming together. Can't get the sort of result I want with even very bright natural light, and I keep missing the moment trying to shoot with flash. A mate hinted at a way of triggering it automatically but knew little more so thought I'd ask on here. Knowing my luck it won't be possible with the D60!

I think you'll always need low-powered (and therefore fast cycle) flash in a dark environment for the best results with water drop style pics. If you can't nail the timing manually there's videos on youtube that show how to build your own audio triggers for a flashgun using Maplin-level components.

Some images are captured this way using sound activated flash - never tried it so not sure on the best way to go with that one.

Another option would be to use an SB-900 on its strode setting and try to get the strobing and exposure accurate for your needs.

The thing you want is an adjustable intervalometer.

Like this one It's not cheap but it looks like it's got all bases covered once you get the additional bits for sound, movement etc.

That looks almost perfect, only problem with sound is that the moment I'm trying to capture is before a sound would be made LOL

You can use a laser beam as well so when the beam is broken the flash fires, no sound needed
