Biggest viewfinder ?

Is the viewfinder significantly bigger on the 5dii than the 7d ?

Yes, its definately noticeable however the 7D is still an amazing camera.

Thanks, that's very useful. The reason I ask is that my eyesight is making it difficult to use the 450d so I've sold it and need a camera with a bigger, brighter viewfinder. Have been looking at a used 5d ii which looks like it's as big as it gets without getting a 1d.

You can probably buy a clip-on viewfinder magnifier.

The 5D's viewfinder is larger but doesnt show the whole frame.

The 7D's does show the whole frame at 100% ( if you use a 50mm lens etc blah).

The 7D's is a huge step up over the xxxD ones so give it a go I've found it superb.

Probably irrelevant if you intend to stay with Canon, but the new Sony SLT bodies feature a large and maybe more importantly for you bright EVF, so what you see through the viewfinder can actually be brighter than you would see with a conventional setup

Most of the comments regarding these cameras slate the use of an EVF, but reviews from actual users are very positive.

Thanks for the suggestions. I wanted to stick with Canon or Nikon for lens availability etc so I bought a refurbished 5dii. It will also be much better to handle with bigger lenses.
