Go-Pro HD camera

Just used one of these for the first time on a shoot, have to say i was pretty impressed! The thing is TINY and you can mount it on the car pretty much anywhere you want too! Anyone else had any experience using one?

Getting the footage in to FCP was a bit of a pain but no more time consuming than playing from tape. I think the final image result is second to none for the size of the unit and its pretty cheap too!

What are other peoples experiences with this bit (or similar) bit of kit?

We use them for timelapse shooting, very good for the cost. Make sure you install the latest firmware from the gopro website.

I've got one I use on boats with a couple of home-made mounts.
Brilliant quality for the size and you can stick it almost anywhere

I'm playing with footage right now and i really am very impressed! I used to have an old bullet cam but the image was nothing like as good as these little box of tricks!

WOW! These things are amazing!!! Very impressed with the image you can get from such a small camera, if used as a second cam and inter-cut with a higher end production camera you could make some very intense scenes which capture the action really well

Personally I prefer the ContourHD...

There's also the new HD Hero 960 without some of the full camera features but a lower pricetag.

Me too, but then that's the one I've got.

This was suckered to the windscreen of the rally buggy for testing purposes to see if it would provide any useful footage.

How are they in the dark. Want to attach to a drift car in a floodlit stadium where my photography is normally founded on ISO2000 (yes, 2,000) 1/20 f/2.8... so not that bright really

I've got a vid from Croft where there's quite a lot of cloud cover which made the footage quite dull.

We used it at the Milton Keynes 24hr karting, racing under floodlights.

Its not brilliant in terms of white balance, and its got quite a bit of colour noise, but it was better than expected.

Not quite the light eves you guys are talking about, but i'v shot some onboard stuff with the GoProHD on some pretty gloomy days and not been hugely impressed.....seems to need a reasonably well lit environment....that said the footage wasnt dreadful by any stretch of the imagination (maybe i'm been a bit harsh)

This is a hot off the press shoot...still a bit rough....still trying new angles etc, feel like i'm getting there now :-)
