Goodbye my Hasselblad....

The time has come to move my Hasselblad outfit on. Not wanting to EBay, has anyone experience of dealers such as Mifsuds, Ffordes ,Camtech etc who'll either buy equipment or sell on commission? I'm not in a tearing hurry so does the selling on commission idea work well? There seems to be quite a price variance on used Hasselblad equipment, so is the medium format market comatose in these days of digital?

Just my 2 pence worth, but if your after a good return a dealer will give you zilch.
When I sold my old Nikon D2X a couple of years ago Misfuds (who I bought my new camera from) offered me £400 for it when they were going for £1000 on eBay. I went the eBay route and got just short of a grand for it.
eBay is fine I've never had any problems, you just need to stipulate that it is a UK auction only, you don't want people to bid withe less than a certain amount of positive feedback and when/how you expect payment.

On the assumption that the Hasselblad market works the same as anything else, a product has a value - in other words what people are prepared to pay for it. Let us say that the value is £500. A dealer will have to sell it at £500 so can only pay £300 for it. That's because he's got to make a living and pay business rates, staff etc. By contrast Joe Punter will pay £499.
There's a slight difference in that people usually pay a small premium to buy from a dealer, but the principle remains. Introduce any middleman and it's bye-bye margins. So for best returns sell direct, whether eBay or other means.

After I retired I put over 40 items of film cameras, lenses and accessories on eBay over a period of several months; they were all well photographed and accurately described,
and almost all made surprisingly good prices, and with no 'hassle' at all.
I too enquired about selling through the established dealers on commision
but they were hardly bullish on selling price and wanted to take a lot more than eBay and PayPal put together.
