Walter Hayes Trophey Silverstone

I tagged along to the Walter Hayes Trophey as our college were running a car.
Started off bad, car had a flat tyre out of the trailer from practice. Turning out to be a damaged rim, so the tyre and a new wheel were eventually dug out back at base.
Next problem was the engine being down on power. The head was removed, cams the lot. New leads and plugs fitted. Turned out we had 2 bent valves, but it was deemed ok to run.
Then to add insult to injury, we were punted off on lap 6 at brooklands. No damage but we were out.
Anyhow pictures.

Nice pits and garage shots. They capture the essence of things quite well but as I think you found, based on what you said, the shallow DoF is quite a challenge at times and big aperture lens performance wide open sometimes surprises.
Like the sneaked shot on the pit wall. People have been hung drawn and quartered for trying less than that .... ok, well, maybe not physically modified but just severely spoken to then.
ETA: Ah I see he was through to the semi already after a good result in his heat. Ignore my comment about the Progression race.
That was tough luck. There seemed to be a few who suffered a similar fate one way or another.
