Looking fir budget dslr

I'm looking for my 1st dslr and have a budget around 300. Any thoughts ?

By the looks of it, the only two DSLRs with lenses that are under £300 new are Sony and Olympus's entry-level ones. If you increase your budget to £350, the entry-level cameras from Nikon and Canon (D3000 and 1000D respectively) become available. Nikon and Canon are the two biggest manufactures with the best selection of lenses, accessories, third-party support etc. so I'd suggest going for one of them. You'll also need to spend another £10-30 on a memory card.

There's a deal on the Sony A450 + 18-55mm from Wilkinsons for £299. The 4xx/5xx series is a step up from the entry level 2xx/3xx models. No good if you want to use it like a compact point & shoot though, as it does not have live view.

Sony do not do the really exotic £5000+ lenses (400/2.8, 200/2 etc) that you can get for Canon and Nikon, but there's plenty of choice at consumer level and both Sigma and Tamron fully support the alpha mount with their range of lenses so plenty of economical choice from the third party lens suppliers.

What is harder to find is cheapo Chinese knock off copies of things like vertical grips (there are some available, but they don't fully replicate the functionality of the originals).

I have these for sale. The lens is far better than the 'kit' lens that is normally supplied with a body. :-)
