Photoshop-how easy to use?

Mornin all.
I have asked a pal of mine to take 3 photos of a particular bed that I sell to go on my web site. The thing is I asked if he can P'shop it to cut the image out of my showroom background & paste into some "generic" type bedroom background. As he's a v. good pal I never asked about cost but I'm sure he said it would take 15 hours (!) work to do that which I thought was a wind-up ( as I also thought about him saying he can charge £50 p hr !)
It is now over a week since he showed me the original photos & I am kinda wondering if he is going to try to charge me for 15 hrs. ( Ok -some "good pal" I know)He does sometimes have an inflated opinion of his skills & abilities.
So, realistically, how long would it take to cut around a digital image of a single bed & paste onto another background? I'm sure this is competent amateur stuff myself but have never used Photoshop.

It is indeed competent amateur stuff rather than high end pro.
Without seeing the photos it's difficult to be sure, but 15 hours it certainly should not be. Even if he was going the whole hog and putting in the bed shadows, reflections, sorting the lighting out etc. etc it probably wouldn't take 15 hours (or 5 if that's for 3).
It sounds 15 times too much to me. Just look at the quick photoshops that guys do on here? 5mins from start to finish - ok some are fairly rough, but it will only take another 30mins to get them perfect.

I recently restored an image of a group of army guys taken in around 1914 - the photo had been in the bottom of a drawer for decades and was covered in mould / had nice big white cracks all over it where it had been bent over the years.
Took me around 4 hours to restore it, print it and frame it.
Half decent photo maybe an hour.
Crappy photo - I wouldn't do it.

Well I guess you're right but as he's an (out of work !) pro photographer he at least has a high end digital camera & (allegedly) the Photoshop skills to do the job.I didn't like to ask PH guys for the favour.
I'll have to wait & see what he comes up with.

Does it not depends on how realistic the OP would like the image to display?
It's also pretty hard finding a suitable background which will match the angle, unless you're also expecting 3d rendering and lighting...
I have other original photos with beds "in situ" supplied by a manufacturer that I think could be adapted to include this bed in place of their original. And dibbers006- I like your concept
. I have had customers threaten to lift the bed up to get teenage sons out of bed (& hide them inside when closed !) but perhaps the spring idea could be marketed
