Hi Everyone,
Just wondering if someone might be able to help me with a few things. Im currently looking at getting a bullet cam from rf concepts to hook up to my recently purchased Canon MV650i. so far ive had a few problems getting AV IN to work with things like my dvd and video machine, but it seemed to work fine with my old camcorder when i wanted to digitise some old video footage i had. so im not sure if it will work with a bullet cam or not, in theory it should, but with experience im not sure whether it will or not.

Any advice and thoughts would be greatly appreciated,
Cheers,
Oliver

I've got a similar bullet cam with a Canon MV something-or-other and had no problems with it. Worth getting the LANC remote controller while you're at it, so you can pack the camera securely out of the way.

I recently brought a Canon MV530i, and a bullet cam from RF Concepts, and they work fine together.

Same here - RF bullet cam and MV500i in rally car, works a treat. Echo sentiments about the lan-c remote too.

Some details on the website if you need it (sounds like you're ok though!)

This might be a stupid question, but what is a lan-c remote? I'm assuming it's not the remote that came with the camcorder.

LANC is a wired remote control. The normal IR remote control that comes with the camcorder is no good unless you have a line of sight to it, which you probably won't since it'll be safely packed away in a bag.

So can anyone recommend a good lanc remote that isn't too expensive?

RF concepts will sell you all the bits you need. Or you can probably get them from any good camera shop. Or even DriveData (but I seem to remember their prices were way over the top last time I looked).

Yes, drivedata are taking the p1$$ a little I feel - I think they're clearly aiming at the track-day monkeys who don't know any better to DIY [] !!

It plugs into the LANC port (ordinary co-ax type socket normally with an 'L' logo).

Its on the camera, on mine its next to the A/V sockets that you would plug the bullet cam in to.

I've got an MV400i and just checked and it seems ive got both ports too

Little Circle with a two-part 'L' shape in the middle... = LANC?
Below that the AV In/Out
Below that the mic port also

Sweet... time to get some cash together and bullet cam, mic and remote

None of those ports look like LANC portals, I guess yours doesn't have one.

I had a lovely package from RF Concepts on friday, i only put my order in on thursday afternoon, so to get the items i ordered so fast, i was extremely impressed! it all works really well, and the tests ive done so far havent come out too badly at all, it will just take abit of testing to get some really nice view points.

Thanks for all the help, very much appreciated!
