really, really stupid Flickr question

Flickr used to be banned here (UAE) but has been unblocked now so I have created an account as alternative to photobucket which I used previously.

How the hell do I post photos on a forum such as this?!

On PB I used to just copy the code and paste and that worked but it doesn't seem to be the same routine using Flickr or is it PH's formatting?

On your Flickr photo page:

- click "Share this"
- choose "Grab the HTML / BBCode"
- Pick a size (max 750px wide to avoid PH image resize)
- Choose "BBCode"
- Copy the code
- Paste into your post on PH

Alternatively,

Click on the shot you want to use from you photostream.

When picture is displayed, right click on it. That gives you a choice of sizes.

Click on one, when the screen refreshes, right click and select properties. That'll give you the direct URL for the size you want. Then it's just a case of putting between the img tags.

I find it's the quickest way to do it now. I much prefered it before they mucked about with it.

That's as maybe, but they did so because they don't want you posting images without crediting the photographer, as has always been their conditions of use.

I'm referring to the method of posting shots taken by me on MY flickr account, onto places such as PH and other forums. It's got nothing to do with using other photographers images at all.

They changed the user interface to make something fairly fundemental and at the time, quite straightforward into a chore. IMO.

However, when you're linking 45 plus images onto a football clubs forum...

Ok, I'll rephrase it.

I fail to see how the new way is any harder than the old way. If anything I find it quicker.

It is for me. I'm not going to have two or three different sites that serve different purposes. I use it as photostorage, sharing and of course the group aspect.

And, to me, it definietly is more convoluted. I general I like Flickr, but they ruined the UI. There were some improvements in the changes, it's just that one wasn't one of them.

Terms of Service dictate when you post an image outside of flickr it must link to the image page, not just display the image. Now I'm used to it I find the new way quicker whether posting one image or 50.

Learn something everyday, never knew that.

However, as it's my images that I choose to display, and I pay for the account, I don't see the problem in solely displaying the images. The are credited to me, and I do post the link for the set anyway.

I guess in the end, we all look at things differently, and I see the UI as a pain. Nothing is going to change that. If it works for you, great. But for me and many others, it doesn't.

More work than previously right clicking on the image and just lifting the url.
Not all fora seem to like the BBcode.

As above, due to the terms of service, they make it deliberately difficult to grab an image without the links to the Flickr page.

Photobucket makes it much easier to grab images. The rest of Photobucket is st, of course.
