Photos onto canvas...

Folks,

I have some photographs from my recent trip to HK, particularly a night skyline which I think would look brilliant blown up to approximately 4ftx3ft or thereabouts and hung as a picture on my wall.

Are there any companies which do this, I'd want to do a decent job rather than simply a "poster" but don't want to spend the earth...

Ah, might have a look- They seem to do a reasonably big one. I do like the way the previous suggestion "Wraps" round the edges of the frame, although with a digital print I don't suppose I can go too far wrong...

Or Snapmad.com are doing a 24x20" for £20 (or other similar sizes depending on the aspect ratio)

Bargain... That looks ideal. Do you have any personal experience? I don't know whether they would come with all the bits to stretch the canvas, or pre-stretched.... If I need to get them stretched myself that's an extra £40 a frame...

...Actually, having just looked on a tape measure 24"x16" isn't actually huge, so they probably send it intact.

Plus, is this good or bad?: We print at 300 dots per inch (dpi)

I bought a "direct print on aluminium backing" from Whitewall after someone else on here recommended it

See the video on the site. The product is excellent, it is exactly what you would see at a photo exhibition. Pricier than a poster but looks amazing on the wall (if you want a frameless image).

Facscinating, there's so much they can do... Quite set on a canvas for this particular one but would love to get a "set" of smaller ones on aluminium for somewhere else in the flat...

ETA- Dangerous website. Just specced up an absolutely huge print on aluminium- About 10ft by 8ft. Coming out at about £260... No, MUST NOT BUY!

Never used Asdawls. You could try that picture framing place down on the docks past the Industrial Museum too:

I've used them a few times for framing and they've been good - don't know if they do what you want.

Thanks- I went into them to get a canvas framed and it turned out at a silly price- Although in fairness it was a huge canvas. AFAIK they only do framing. I'll have a wander round town tomorrow, sure there's somewhere that does them, although the links so far are very promising. Snapmad in particular looks cost effective...

Personally I wouldn't go to anyone else other than Tim (fluid images). I was expecting a good quality canvas, but what I receieved was incredible.

They come "whole" but not via post, via a big brown UPS van. Usually takes 48 hours for delivery, you get a tracking number.
