First car shots with DSLR

Had the camera (D90) since October, first time I have tried shooting the motor.

Need a more imaginative setting location next time, this was a quiet corner of my car park that I thought may be a good place to start.

Shot with the 18-105.

Tidy car park!! Good effort on the pics also, a white car under those lights must be tricky.

Hi mate nice shots, and nice car. I'll give some comments, but feel free to ignore them as by no means an expert.

No.1 My favourite shot, great composition but i'd have straightened the wheels!

No.2 Nice

No.3 lighting is a bit off (left of car is a bit dark) and doesent do a whole lot for me compositionally. But still a nice shot.

No.4 Nice again, i find the lights on the ground infront of the car a bit distracting, maybe could clone them out?

No.5 Like it, the bright lights on the wall a little distracing perhaps.

No.6 Really like the idea, its just realling irking me that the car isnt quite straight in the frame, it could perhaps do with a slightly wider field of view too.

No.7 Nice again, exposing for an interior with dash lights on in a dark car park must be tricky!

Re reading this it might come across as negative, thats not meant to be the case a all, you've taken some great shots there i'm just trying to say something constructive about each one

@ dave, yes it's basement level, not many cars and no mess! Cheers for the comment.

@ jimmy, please continue, it's exactly why I posted them here, have only really lurked and admired others before.

The one with the 'distracting lights is probably my favourite of the set, I like the light effect, to each his own as they say! Will attempt a clone and see what I think

First is a close second, agree 100% about the wheels in hindsight.

I had the same thoughts about the one with the tight crop from behind, need to redo that slightly, it was handheld just before I left.

Was happy with the dash, less happy about the amount of room in the back shooting it.. Sweet FA!

It is all subjective, one of the great things about photography! I would say its probably my 2nd favourite from your set too, I like how your eyes are first drawn to the car, but then the line of pillars draws your eyes into "exploring" the rest of the photo.

have another go at number 1 but with the wheels straightened, lights on (maybe), and somewhere else in the car park with a plain, non-distracting background and that will be a nice pic. definately keep the car off-centered.

ETA and get a bit lower

I'd say get lower for most of the shots, don't be scared of looking like a doofus crouched down like a man having a dump.

With the rear end shot, Try again but with the lense at 18mm maybe?

Got another location in mind as well, will be slightly more spectacular as well, just need to get out of bed before the sun comes up!
