New camera needed

Hi,
I am after a digital slr.
It will be my first decent camera previously used pocket digital types but have decided I want someting better. I have also just gone self employed so the camera will be used for website photos of work and projects I am undertaking.
I may take this up as a hobby so I want a camera that is upgradable with regard to lens options. I have looked at Sony cameras but have been advised I will be limited with choice and steered into the direction of Canon equipment but this could be just sales talk. Happy to spend between £3-450 to start with.

I'd probably go for a Canon 450d or 500d, my brother was in the same situation as you this week wanting his first dSLR and has picked up a 500d body for £325 from talkphotography, pop an 18-55 IS on there and you're away, in budget.

I had a 450d and it was a lovely little camera. I only moved to 1 Series bodies to get weather sealing, faster frame rates and faster AF for motorsports but there are times when I miss the portability of the 450d, they are quite a small body so easily carried everywhere. Also being a crop body you have choice of EF or the (usually cheaper) EF-S lenses so plenty of scope for expansion.

Theres a good range fo lenses for all models, obviously more for nikon and canon esoeiclay in the used market.

But go to a store and hold some, try some out, the abilities and image quality of them is all so close it doesnt matter.

Then buy a 5D2.

That's what I did except I bought a 400D then a 40D first! Save yourself the money in the long term and jump in with both feet

As others have said, the 450D sounds perfect for you. I have one and they are fantastic.

Get on Talk Photography and keep a close eye on the for sale section!
