Logo design help please

My lack of Photoshop skills is really showing.
My parents-in-laws hotel use this



We want to up date this and so far I have come up with



And



The red of the first is the main colour within the hotel.
Basically we want something classy bunt not flouncy!
It needs to be 800 x 270 in size for web use. The new site font will be Verdana, but the K in vardana is no good for the K logo

How about getting them to put their hands into their pockets and pay someone to design a logo?

Why did they ask you? Is it simply because you own a copy of Photoshop, or they just expect to get stuff for free.

My seven year old nephew is a professional designer (like everyone else) and believes this should be done in Microsoft Word : P

It's remarkable. If I walked in to the restuarant, asked for a three-course meal and said 'Oh by the way there's no budget', would I get served? Do they pay the brewer for beer or just say 'Oh there's no budget'?



And anyway, what you get on this forum is photographers not graphic designers. We photograph things, we don't make 'em up out of letters and bits of colour
