I took this pic at a small gig last week (just a snap - I'm not claiming an FRPS) but what is that big white splodge that looks like the moon? It certainly wasn't there in real life! Camera was an Olympus Mju 300.

Looks like a load of pixels not registering, but around the 3 - 4 'o' clock area looks like some sort of flare showing.
Is it the only picture that has it?

Could be the lights relecting off a dust particle on the lens...

Yep, just that one. There were three domestic-style spotlights on the ceiling above them - if it's flare I've not seen it like that before. And dust on the lens would be too out of focus to show, surely?

Edited to add: just had a look at another pic - that has a couple of tiny white spots on it, almost like watermarks - I think it must be flare after all.

Dust. I get it with my Canon 10D doing single flash work quite a bit. Dust off the tele and take a few shots. Looks like snow!

Cheers

But DOF on a tele is far smaller - you sure?

Ah, rather a bad choice of terms by me, sorry. I mean TV as it's always covered in dust so a good source for a test!
