Trustworthy snappers for modelling portfolio for daughter?

My daughter is 15. We want to find a decent quality, non-rapey photographer to shoot some photos for a portfolio.
We can probably source hair & makeup artist.
Any idea where I can look for reputable photogrpaher for this sort of work?
I cannot afford Rankin or Leibovitz, so ignore those!!

Your first bet should be to look over at model mayhem. There is a huge range of talent, from GWC to working Pros. This is where I go to find models, MUAs and hair people.
It is well worth having a good look through portfolios to get an idea of what you are looking for. A simple shoot shouldn't cost too much, but do expect to pay.

with all due respect, dont go to model mayhem, but then again dont go to big london based studios, where are you based? as i can point you in the direction of some amazing photographers, with portfolios that will make you jaw drop that are not expensive.

I have found it to be ok (once you weed out the flakes) but then again I am in NYC, where it is very used. regards
The thing is, i was on it doing a lot of model photography and i found that it was more hasle than its worth.
Numerous girls i know, have been on it, gone to togs had very bad experinces, or got images that are so sub par, i was shocked people were offering the service.
id rather some one is pointed in the direction, and then given the options as i wouldnt want people wasting money and thinking all togs are bad like that.

I would imagine that would be the case in smaller towns, with a better experience in London just because there is more choice. Numerous girls i know, have been on it, gone to togs had very bad experinces, or got images that are so sub par, i was shocked people were offering the service.

No matter what, it does pay to do your homework first and both meet the photographer first and see their work.
If she is interested in becoming a model, take her, or send some snaps to some reputable agencies along with her statistics. They will know what look is in and whether she has any potential. They do not need to see 'professional' pictures. You do not need to pay for a portfolio and I would advise anyone to avoid photographers who charge money for 'portfolios'!
Although there are some talented people on MM, they are in a very small minority. The vast majority, photographers and models alike are just wannabes, so I would be vary careful about sourcing a photographer from there.
