Sorry for the short post but I presume there will still be flights around the area on Thursday? Don't really want to do the long journey if there will be nothing flying due to the long weekend?

I wouldn't bother, I think there are a few airfields closed from the 21st onwards

It's just the only day I've got off where I can actually get down there in the last year .

Not sure, but the traffic hasn't really been that good Monday, Tuesday.

Who knows you could go and have a load of movements but on the other hand you could also blank and get b*gger all, thats part of the gamble

Can you phone the airfield?
There is a local bombing range up here that you can phone and arrange a visit to the control tower when there's plenty action.
They even have their own PR man.

Given it's the only chance I'll get until at least another month or two then I think I will risk it. One of my mates is popping down for the first time with me but wil be a shame if we don't see anything but as you said, that's the risk.

At least I can work on the tan .

Should have gone to see the Eagles. Most airfield will close this evening and open back up on tuesday and then Close on Thursday Evening again for the Royal Wedding.

The F-15s were up nice and early this morning over the NY moors as one of the noisy bds buzzed me whilst out walking the dogs. They have a bloody great job - although I'm sure they looked down on me sweating like a cornered virgin jogging along after my Labs and thought the same

Turned up at 0930hrs, was overflown by a Herc, then a Hawk. By the time I was on one of the ledges another hawk went past followed by two chasing each other around the valleys. After that (lunch time) there was nothing until 4pm when I left .
