Tamron 55-200 zoom lens

Hi

Can anybody give me any feedback on this lens? Looking for a cheap zoom and this seems like a deal. Obviously build quality not likely to be great but any user experiences with regard to image quality would be appreciated. Cheers.

Some pretty good reviews on the Dyxum website.

Although Dyxum is specifically for Sony/Minolta mount lenses, the Canon version is likely to be very similar.

Sounds like a reasonable lens for the money.

It's Currys - buy it, unwrap it carefully and try it.

I only own one tamron lens, and its not that one. Its a 25-300mm. Its not a bad lens, but it has some little quirks I do not like about it. I would go to a local camera store and see if you can try a display model on your camera before buying anything. When you try the display model look for those little quirks you wont like (chromatic aberration/hard to operate/does not operate like you think it should/doesn't feel natural/too heavy or light/listed f-stop is not accurate/etc). If you can live with the undesirable features of the lens at the price, then its worth your time.

Agreed but this one appealed as it's not much bigger than the 28-55 kit lens which might make it more practical as a 'walkabout' lens.
