Photo booklets

Which is the best place for getting photo booklets from? We've got loads of photos on the MacBook, but very few printed out and we'd like to do so.

Ideally, something that can work with Aperture would be ideal - as well as a site that goes through Quidco (of course )

I've just ordered two books through Aperture itself (through iTunes account). It made designing them a simple process as you just drag pictures in and out. Prices were actually not bad, I thought it would be a fortune. I think I've paid about £25 per Large (12" x 10" i think) 20 page hard back book delivered. I'm sure cheaper are available but I don't feel ripped off. They should arrive this week so I'll let you know what I think if you're interested.

Thanks, I would be interested - is it a standard plug in and how many photos are in it?

Are you using aperture 3? Don't quote me on this as I'm not at my mac but I think that if you highlight a project and then click 'new', one of the options will be 'book'. It's then just a case of choosing a style, size etc.. You can add or remove pages as you go along and if you want to keep tabs on the price, click on the order button at any point and you'll see a total. That price won't inlcude VAT or delivery though so just bear that in mind.

Basically aperture treats the book like any other project, you just drag images into the folder/book and then drag them to image box. Each of the books have a standard template but you can butcher this till your heart's content. I was making a wedding album so I was dragging in large faded background photos for each page and then overlaying them with other photos. It's just a case of creating picture or text boxes and telling it which one is on the top layer etc.

Like I say, I'm sure snapfish et al are cheaper but using aperture makes things very fast as you still have full editing control as you're going along.

The in-laws recently got a book done from there trip too NZ but some of the pics that continued on both pages lost alot of the photo through the centre.
They have since had it done in a rig-binder style.
maybe worth looking at.

I've just seen the "new" "Photobook" option - much "durrr" going on here - all Ihave to do now, is work it out and try to size the photos properly, something I've just failed at, cos I is stupid, innit.

I was going to use the likes of Jessops or something, but if it's integrated into Aperture like this, it'll be so much easier.

Hi - have yours arrived yet and are they any good?

I've just completed an "extra large" book which ran to 33 pages - I'll order it later when the OH and I have agreed on the photos - £47 I think, but putting it together was a complete doddle

Not arrived yet but they were dispatched on Wednesday so I'm half hoping to see them today. If they arrive I'll report back and maybe take some pics etc.

It's a nice piece of software to use isn't it? I was really quite impressed and I'm not sure that they're far off with the pricing either.

Hi mate, your email had found it's way into my junk mail but when I noticed I checked the UPS tracking info. It seems they're not due until Tuesday next week

I presume you're quite keen to get them ordered ASAP? There are a few reviews I found if you do a google search. They all seem very positive. If you're looking for reassurance, they're probably worth a read. Otherwise, I'll report back on here as soon as mine arrive.

I ordered a book directly from iPhoto.
It was steps ahead of the 2 UK suppliers used previously IMHO

Afraid not. They were given away as presents. The recipients were impressed for what's it worth though

Well, my aperture books arrived today. Not had a chance to take pics but I will later. I have to say, that they look excellent but will have a better look after work.
