I went to a garden centre this morning. While my wife ran amuck with the credit card, I wandered around taking an occasional photo of the flowers. I saw a bee in one. An insect always adds interest, so when I saw one supping from a flower, I crept up and snapped one off, so to speak.
The bee didn't move. A closer examination showed that it was dead. I pointed this out to one of their staff, as a dead bee's sting is still painful, and a kid might prod it. He said that it probably got its proboscis caught, as sometimes happens.
He said, 'They're like us. It's a the way she would want to go.'
Quite funny I thought.
