Seller being a bit optimistic

I think the seller is being a bit optimistic with his pricing in the following ad.

Just my opinion but he would be very lucky to achieve even his starting price with a 125000 mile car. Come on S owners lets help the seller out here and tell him what he should be selling it for.
For £8000 plus i would want a half decent v8s. What do you think?

"bit optimistic"? "Absolutely barking" is how I'd have titled this , even if immaculate then he would only be looking at the starting price rounded down in thousands. 4-5 years ago maybe his price would have been closer to the mark but not with the current petrol price and economic situation.

But then again perhaps his wife has told him to sell it and he has priced accordingly, we can only hope

Wow! That is optimistic, I imagine he's trying to recoup some of that chassis expense.

I thought the S3c having a limited slip diff as standard was only 'folklore'?
Mine certainly doesn't (although I do have a rebuilt one ready to drop in should I ever find the time )

To be fair, high mileage but it looks in great condition and with a body off restoration.

Agree, don´t underestimate our cars. With a body off and engine work the starting price is fair !

It's the later S3C / S4C bonnet with Chimaera-style vents down each edge (where the bonnet meets the "wing" over the headlamps) - I think.

Much as I'd love to see the prices of our cars move back in that direction, I can't help but thinking that's a bit strong! It looks like he's pretty much added the price of his chassis restoration to the market value of the car.

Think if I'd spent all that dosh on a chassis job I'd have some pictures in the ad ?

tvrgit is correct re the bonnet - my S3C had that sort with the driving lights and slits down the sides rather than the air scoop on top.

I think he's spot on at £8250, what with the article in C & SC today and the movement away from the more extreme modern TVR's.

My S3C is the same spec with the Chim style bonnet and has a far superior roof lining. As a bonus its done just 34K miles , so if we apply a mileage adjustment of £100 per 1,000 miles could I suggest offers on £17,350...
