New Forum members

Its very gratifying to see a constant flow of new owners appearing on here but the same questions are asked time and time again. It seems to me that each new owner has to re-invent the wheel.
Might it be an idea to have a sticky thread "Welcome to the Forum" in which information can be provided on how the use the FAQs, Useful Links and Forum Searching etc so new owners can help themselves, at least part of the time. Obviously we couldn’t cover ALL the queries and questions and I'm sure all on here will continue to help and support new users as in the past.
I'm also sure that there are plenty of other ideas out there to help the new owners.
I'm happy to kick the project off if others agree that’s its a good idea and will cover the FAQS, Useful Links and Searching.
Further to that why not offer what further information you all think is relevant, so if people want to write sections to add email them to me, I'll incorporate them and then offer a draft for comments (constructive only please) before we ask the mods to make it sticky. Initial thought is not to make it a Wiki but I'm very happy to discuss.

Good idea Norman, I would keep it "top level" as in "Forum use Guide" or something similar so as not to end up swamped in detail and back where we started if you get my drift. Newbies tend to not know what they don't know so a soft lead in and guide to exploring would be very useful.

Welcome to the S Series Forum
It is gratifying to see a steady stream of new S owners appear here, it’s a fantastic car whether it’s a Ford V6 or a Rover V8. It can be an exciting drive and you do have to be careful especially in the wet but very rewarding bringing a smile to almost every face. The exhaust note is exhilarating and will turn heads. One of the good things about the S Series is that lots of servicing and maintenance jobs are easy to do at home, if you know which way round to hold a spanner. Most owners, either on the S forum on the TVR Car Club website. or here at pistonheads, are very good at giving advice to help those starting out on trickier jobs.
In order to help you find your way around there are a number of resources available.
Firstly you should add your information to the relevant owners list which can be seen as a Wiki (designated by the ‘W’ in the first column). These Wikis can be edited by anyone but are not very user friendly. If you have any concerns just post your details in the main forum with a request for someone to add them and it will be done very quickly. The Useful Links Wiki is also a treasure house of information
Second give consideration to joining the TVR Car Club, look here for further information
Thirdly just read through the threads here many of which will be of great help.
Fourthly its worth reading through the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) and the useful links thread. To find the FAQs look towards the top of the page just under the S Series banner and hover over the "this forum" tab then click on the FAQs or look here. For the useful links click the link at the top of the threads or look here.
Please read through the thread which explains how to use the search facility here. I think I can almost guarantee that whatever your problem is someone else had had it and dealt with it before.
If you cant find an answer either in FAQs or via the search facility then please post you query here and, from experience, I would expect that you will get an answer almost by return.

Looks good Norm, but I'd run the TVRCC link through BigAl first to ensure it doesn't contavene any of the rules.
