Hi All,
Been thinking of a roll bar in thick wall stainless, I hade some 2" solvent pipe so made a mock up, It will have full hoops , I only used 45 deg fittings as I could not get a hoop in solvent,
Before the funny reply's It is only a plastic mock up, Just need to find someone to make it at a reasonable price.

How high is it? Even right up against the inside of the rear hoop is only marginally high enough. The rear stay low down on the middle section doesn't seem likely to be effective. You really need a rear stay at the highest point, behind the head rest. Are you going to mount the middle section onto the chassis somehow? There is no structure to mount it to in the middle of the tunnel, perhaps you're thinking or mounting it on the top rails?
I agree with GreenV8S about the height & angle of the rear stay and the mounting points (or lack of) over the tunnel.
Please don't take this the wrong way but I imagine there is a lot of technical knowledge needed to make an effective roll bar. When such knowledge already exists why try to re-invent the wheel? It might be a bit cheaper but if you want a well designed and effective roll bar I wouldn't have thought it was an area to try and save £s.
Here's a pic of mine made and fitted by Guglielmi Motorsport...

This one is relatively over engineered (it has an FIA stamp!) but was fitted for the previous owner who used the car for competitive sprinting. It also has additional hoops that fit to it using an enormous allen key to give some extra height if the roof is off and you're wearing a helmet.
Tower View (no longer trading) used to sell a simpler version that was made for them by Rollcentre Racing. Might be worth contacting them?
Cheers,
L'rs

When I asked about having one made for my last S it was approx £750 I think. To cut a long story short I ended up buying the car owned by Gugi's main mechanic with the bar already fitted rather than have one made for my own car so I'm unsure of the exact cost.
If you give Gugi's a ring mention my name (Ian Longden) and Dave's old S2 and they'll know exactly what you want

Will do, though I will get my outriggers done first just to be on the safe side If you give Gugi's a ring mention my name (Ian Longden) and Dave's old S2 and they'll know exactly what you want

Hi Alan
you can see the plates I've welded to the chassis which is under the rear shelf for my cage to bolt to in the foreground and just see the plates on the outriggers for the cage front legs:

The main hoop bolts to the plate which originally took the seatbelt
OOh and your old rear disc conversion......Many Thanks for it

Hi All
Pictures below of a rollcentre bar fitted in my S. I have since had a removal diagonal bar added for strength by the man at TR Lane. When I was there we talked about using mine as a starting point to allow him to start producing a version for the S. If there is enough interest I'm happy to drop my car in so they can take a look. The place is pretty local so not a massive problem?
I will find a picture later with the diagonal added.

Forgot to say - I also had a couple of bracket welded to the rollbar so I could move the top seat belt mount forward.
