Mini S Club / Rutland Rumble / Stamford Car Show

Hi everyone

As some of you already know I used to organise an annual event called the Rutland Rumble. The last one (the 4th) a couple of years ago had 61 cars turn up! Simple format was to meet at a pub on a Sunday morning for coffee, do a scenic tour for 1 - 2 hours (easier said than done when 61 cars turned up!) then return to the pub for lunch and tyre kicking. The last one attracted all sorts of cars but the majority were TVRs.

I think it'd be great to do another one but, seeing as there are now so many S's within reasonable distance of here, I like the idea of doing one just for S's...

When looking for a suitable date I remembered this http://www.stamfordroundtable.co.uk/events/car-sho... which is an excellent day out and is free. It's easy to get to from the A1, is a great show and Stamford is a beautiful town to wander around*. The East Mids TVRCC visit this show and the organisers have already indicated we can have our own "S Club" area near them.

*WARNING - Stamford has some lovely shops so those bringing partners may encounter "wallet emptying syndrome".

My suggestion is:
- Saturday 27/8 meet for light lunch at a pub
- Spend the afternoon on an S Club Rutland Rumble for a couple of hours
- Head to chosen accom. There is a campsite near Rutland Water walkable from an excellent pub which also does B&B and there's a travel lodge and other B&B's etc a short cab ride away (I can do a deal with the local minibus taxi)
- Beer O'clock followed evening meal in pub
- Sunday 28/8 head to Stamford for the car show

As Rutland is very central with great roads and pubs I hope this will appeal to some of you. However I appreciate that bank holidays usually lead to fixture congestion which may prevent some of you attending!

We need to register our cars with the show organisers by end of July which I appreciate isn't long but hopefully will be long enough to get a reasonable number of us! Registering doesn't mean you must attend but is a way for the organisers to manage numbers and plan the display area for groups etc.

The following are already interested. If you want to join part or all of the weekend please add your name, number of people and preferred style of accom and send me a PM. This will enable me to make some arrangements/suggestions for places to stay, book a table for dinner, send you a booking form for the car show, etc.

I'll most likely stay over somewhere, maybe the Travelodge at Morcott, or if we go to Oakham, there is somewhere near there I can stay.

My stomping ground went to school in Stamford! parents live just North of Stamford

Will be there and free camping could be offered in Carlby if people desire, no pub in the village anymore tho

Don't forget we need to register our cars for the car show by the end of July. Even if you are not 100% you will be able to attend it's still worth registering so you have the option to decide nearer the time

Deadspider, do you know if you'll be coming? You seemed confident at S Club but you were not 100% certain - I think the night before and the high temps were taking their toll on you a bit when we spoke!!

Dave M, have you already registered with the East Mids TVRCC and will you be wanting accom?

Tim, Is Greg coming with you / is he staying at home / will he have his own TVR by then...?!

just finishing my holiday in Greece. Due a visit to dear old mum Who lives in Bourne. Was going to take train. But what an excuse to drive S1 from Aberdeen to Rutland and back... please confirm dates.
