Until I can make my mind up about which shocks 'n springs to go for I'm running around on my original Koni's, which still work pretty well but were looking decidedly tatty.
Now springs aren't the easiest of things to clean up and paint so, after following an off road buggy on a trailer the other day with gaiter thingies on its coilovers I came up with these as a "quick cheat"

Off cuts of vynal,some glue and a needle 'n thread................

I had a chat with 2 companies at Stoneleigh Protec and Dampertech, still no wiser on which to get. need some info from others who do track dsys

I assume you mean you're looking for dampers, not socks.

Nitrons always get my vote it you can afford them - assuming Ohlins etc are out of budget.

I am running a set of pre porduction Gaz Monos, very much like the single adjust Nitrons.

So far only good to report, about 6-8 T/D's down and no problems.

No squeaks, leaks and easy to adjust.

Might be worth a look, give Derek a call, might do you a could price.

These and Nitrons are head and shoulders above the budget £5-600 dampers.

Protechs "on offer" for £600 at the mo.

Any opinions

After my dissapointment with Avo's I want something decent (and that don't squeak)but, keeping it in perspective, it is just a 3k play at weekends car not 20k's worth of track day car!

I had Pro-Techs for 2-3 years prior to the Gaz.

They were a marked improvement over the originals, easy to adjust and the after sales service was second to none. They even re-sealed and overhauled a damper once while I waited at no cost!

The only reason I changed was to go for a more suitable damper for a lot of T/D use.

The Pro-Techs are a fine fast road, occasional T/D damper. Where they lose out to the other more expensive monotube designs is that there twin tube design overheats with constant heavy track use, the oil thins and damping is compromised.

You pays your money or you only get what you pay for etc.
