Allyfab make tanks to order in stainless steel from your old tank as a pattern (estimated cost £150-200).

Contact Allyfab: -

Tel: 01246 822 353 or Mob: 07743 976 937

Or via their website at: www.sales@allyfab.co.uk

I haven't checked out their site as yet.

Cheers,
Kevin

We used to use a similar company when I was working on rally cars in the 90s. Many of them advertise in the back of Motoring News which is good weekly newspaper for all sorts of competition spares (including wheels, tyres etc). Alloy tanks even nicer and lighter but big bucks! The competition tanks used to have honeycombing in them as well to stop fuel slopping around but can't see road car needing this.

Mike,

Thanks for updating that info., I picked up a flyer at the last show I went to and they must have changed their number since???

Glad the website link still worked!

An update for you after speaking to them, the tanks they do are actually in Aluminium which is much lighter and will last just as long!! Sounds good, takes a week to 10 days to do, think I will go for it! If you are after one why dont we approach them to do two Kevin?

Worth getting some baffles anyway to stop fuel surge and to strengthen/stiffen the tank. This is done on the GRiff/Chimaera ones.

A lower cost option to honeycomb is actually foam. Demon Tweeks sell it.

Hi Mike,

I've been having problems identifying which sender I need and from where but now I'm waiting on a new fuel sender and 2 gaskets from David Gerald, I'll see if that cures the problem first. If not, I will go for the new tank option.

Ally fab seem pretty good don't they?

Never been keen on the idea of having 70 litres of fuel in a soft thin walled tank under the car exposed in the wheel arch. All too easy for a stone to be thrown up and puncture it. Nice hot exhaust underneath!!!. Stainless at least doesn't tear or puncture. The weight saving is not relevant on a road car and is insignificant when the thing is full. Only my opinion. Hele
