Hi all,
Anyone know what the spring does on the bonnet stay assembly, does it just stop the bonnet stay vibrating? (and where can i buy them in stainless.)

Hi Kenny, hope you can see these ok.

One is close up of where it screws to the body and pivots, other is a break down.

just for scale the round bar is 8mm dia.

That's just to keep it from slopping about in the hole but still be loose enough to move around. Simple but (not very) effective.

If you can't find one you can achieve the same result with two stainless flat washers and a stainless spring washer in between the flats. If you have a Clas Ohlson near you they will have them in packets and relatively cheap compared to specialist stainless suppliers.

A thin "slice" of rubber or silicone hose would have same effect

personally I find the strut too powerful and all the slack in the bonnet joints must be taken up by the strut twisting the whole plot so that the catches dont release properly. I still have mine fitted as I can lock it in place with the top mounting so the bonnet doesnt fall on my head when the stay pops out of the hole...
